About the Position
Expressive Arts Facilitator
AUM currently offers 3 one-hour therapeutic arts sessions each week to incarcerated youth in San Mateo County through a partnership with San Mateo County Behavioral Health & Recovery Services (SMC/BHRS).
We are looking to expand our base of Expressive Arts Facilitators to plan and lead these meaningful and impactful sessions.
Professional Experience
Individuals from a variety of professional backgrounds would work well in this role including: working artists, arts educators, expressive arts therapists, and community members with interest/experience in the arts. A passion for working with under-served and/or at-risk youth is non-negotiable.

Artistic Focus
Our greatest need at this time is an individual who could lead drumming and/or music-oriented sessions. Additionally, we would like to grow our experience base to include creative movement, creative writing/expression, and drama/theatre arts.

Responsibilities
With direction from AUM's Executive Director, and in collaboration with AUM's Director of Outreach Services, individuals in this role will be responsible for both planning and leading, or co-leading, weekly lessons to youth aged 12-18 in the SMC Juvenile Justice system. Building and fostering a trusting relationship with the youth, while also providing firm leadership and supportive boundaries are requisite. Maintaining a positive and professional relationship with our partners at SMC/BHRS is also an important part of this role as well as representing the vision and mission of AUM during all interactions and engagements.

Schedule & Location
Sessions are held on Thursdays from 6-7pm and on Fridays from 6-8pm at San Mateo County Juvenile Hall.
