Heather McGinnis
Executive Director
A lifelong artist, Heather's experience in the performing arts spans 30+ years. She has worked in professional theatre companies as well as non-profit arts organizations and holds a degree in Theatre Arts Education from Appalachian State University. Additionally, Heather built a successful career as a visual artist, founding and operating an award-winning photography studio for over a decade. During this time, Heather was truly awakened to the therapeutic power of the arts while donating her services to families in need as a Bereavement Photographer for the Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep foundation and as an Affiliate Photographer for the Tiny Sparrow Foundation. Prior launching her photography business, Heather worked for over ten years in the corporate sector as a Training & Development Professional, where she designed and developed nationally-recognized curricula and facilitated sessions across the U.S. Passionate about serving her community, Heather has spent time volunteering for a variety of groups whose work aligns closely with her values including those working to combat child food insecurity, support at-risk LGBTQIA+ youth, and expand environmental conservation efforts, to name a few.
Heather's background in the arts, experience as an educator, and heart for helping others connect her deeply to Arts Unity Movement's mission to deliver Arts-Based Experiences that Educate individuals, Enrich communities, Enlighten minds, and Encourage hearts. As Executive Director, Heather is responsible for strategic partnerships, marketing communications, program development and operations management for Arts Unity Movement.
