Coleen Lorenz, MA, BC-DMT, CGP

AUM Co-founder and President, Coleen Lorenz is a board certified dance/movement therapist/group psychotherapist, choreographer, director, and educator.  She received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from UCLA in Dance Choreography and Performance, and Clinical Movement Therapy in Somatic Psychology.  For more than 30 years Coleen has been working with individuals and groups  - youth through seniors - in educational and clinical settings. Her passion is helping people heal and find connection inside themselves and with others through the transformative power of dance and expressive movement.

 

Coleen was a lecturer in the Department of Dance and  Kinesiology at University of Michigan, and the Director of Dance in the Department of Theater and Dance at Notre Dame de Namur University from 2004-2019.  Prior to teaching, Coleen was a clinical supervisor and movement therapist in an adult mental health treatment program through the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, and a group psychotherapist for inpatient care at Mt. Zion Hospital in San Francisco.  Coleen is currently on faculty at Canada College and Notre Dame High School.

 

Over the years, Coleen has directed and choreographed numerous musical and dance productions at the high school, university, and professional levels. Coleen’s training includes pointe ballet, jazz, lyrical, modern, and contemporary styles. She has had the honor of training and performing with various artists of long ago including Cyd Charisse, Joe Tremaine, Nicholas Brothers, Gene Kelly, Ron Brown, and KaRon Brown of Alvin Ailey’s original company.
