Press Release - Passages

Passages is a 55-minute dance story about one woman’s journey as she unravels emotional threads of her lineage, faces the fears of illness and mortality, and discovers the beauty, resilience, and strength of her own soul.  The performance combines contemporary dance, music, spoken word, aerial silks, and mixed media to create an original piece of dance theater unlike anything else on the stage. Performed by NewGround Theatre Dance Company, Passages presents a continuous weave of symbols and characters through dance that offer a message about inner awakening and soul revival.

Audience members are invited to participate in dialogue with the performers, as well as engage in opportunities to share ideas, feelings, or art in response to the content delivered in the performance. AUM’s unique approach is both evocative and healing, and has recently gained the title, “performance therapy” or “medicinal choreography”.

AUM, a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization, will be presenting Passages free of charge.  In lieu of a ticket purchase, a suggested donation amount of $10 for students and seniors, and $40 for general admission, is requested.  80% of donations received will be provided to the Scleroderma Foundation of California in support of their mission to empower the scleroderma community to live better lives through programs dedicated to support, education, and research.
